  • End-of-term Conference Crossing gender. Sociology meets other disciplines

At the end of its mandate, the Scientific Council of the Gender Studies Section of the Italian Sociology Association (AIS) is organizing a conference on the theme of transdisciplinarity to be analysed by assuming gender as a key factor in a scientific and intellectual approach that aims to fully understand the complexity of contemporary society.

Since the first evidence emerged in the 1970s of the need to practice integrated and cooperative forms of research among academics as well as experts in civil society, economics, politics and culture, transdisciplinarity aims to enhance the plurality of sources of knowledge, starting with experiential and practical ones in research work. Gender is proposed as an object as well as a subject of study because for too long it has functioned to regulate access to knowledge.

Thanks to the recent takeover of the transdisciplinary approach in scientific communities and at institutions-think of the NRP project and implementation strategies-more and more research is being devoted to the study of social processes from a transdisciplinary perspective, fostering collaboration across disciplines and with stakeholders, as I will be described by those conducting that research.

Submission deadline extended to next September 22nd, 2024.
